The Ministry of Defence has launched a competition for enrolment in military schools which will be open until March 31, 2023. This year, the Military Academy offers admissions to 175 cadets, and the Military Medical Academy’s Medical Faculty to 17 students. The Military High School will admit 75 new general stream students and 30 aviation students, whereas the Vocational Military School will admit 65.

In academic year 2023/2024, the Military Academy offers undergraduate academic studies with the following majors:  Army, Materials Engineering and Protection, Military Electronic Engineering, Military Mechanical Engineering, Military Aviation, Military Traffic Engineering and Defence Economics.

Candidates born in 2002 or later are eligible for enrolment in undergraduate academic studies at the Military Academy, whereas candidates born in 2003 or later are eligible for enrolment in the MMA Medical Faculty. Another prerequisite is that the candidates have completed a four-year high school, that is, that they are currently in their final year at a four-year high school.

To apply for the following study programmes - Military Electronic Engineering, Military Mechanical Engineering, Materials Engineering and Protection and Military Traffic Engineering, the candidates will need a diploma obtained from a four-year technical or grammar school. In addition to candidates who have finished a grammar school, graduates of a four-year medical or veterinary medicine high school can apply for the MMA Medical Faculty. Candidates who are currently in their final year at the aforementioned schools can also apply for one of the above study programmes.

Boys and girls whose ambition is to become military pilots and enrol in the Military Aviation study programme must meet additional criteria laid down in the special medical and psychological assessment programme for candidates for that study programme, and must successfully complete selective parachute and flight training.

Studies at the Military Academy have the structure of undergraduate academic studies, lasting four years and granting, upon their completion, 240 ECTS credits. Upon completion of studies, cadets acquire higher education and professional degrees.

Studies at the MMA Medical Faculty of the Belgrade Defence University have a structure of integrated academic studies lasting six years (12 semesters) and granting, upon their completion, 360 ECTS credits. Upon completion of studies, cadets acquire higher education and are awarded a Doctor of Medicine degree, as prescribed by the accredited study programme.

After completing their studies, the Military Academy cadets will be promoted to second lieutenants of the corresponding branch or service, whereas the Medical Faculty graduates will become second lieutenants of the medical service.

Boys and girls born in 2007 or later are eligible for enrolment in Belgrade’s Military High School and "1,300 Corporals" Vocational Military School.

Candidates for the Military High School, who meet the competition criteria, must pass the physical fitness test, as well as mathematical and Serbian language and literature knowledge tests. In addition, all candidates will be subjected to psychological and medical assessment, as well as to a security clearance investigation.

Education at the Military High School lasts for four years and uses the general high school curriculum, which also includes specific military content. After completing their education at the Military High School, students are obligated to continue their education at the Military Academy.

The students of the Vocational Military School can choose one of the following courses: Air Force Technical Course, Electronic Warfare Units, Telecommunications and IT, Air Defence Artillery Missile Units, and Airborne Early Warning.
