The Defence University Day was marked today at the Guards’ Club in Topčider.

Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence Nebojša Stefanović, PhD, and the Chief of the Serbian Armed Forces General Staff, General Milan Mojsilović sent their congratulations on the occasion of the Defence University Day.

According to the Rector of the Defence University, Lieutenant General Goran Radovanović, PhD, it was a success to provide quality education amidst the Covid pandemic.

- In accordance with the primary educational role, the Defence University’s teaching and management staff was dedicated to improving the quality of instruction. The routes to modernization, institutional strengthening, academic competitiveness and international affirmation of the Defence University have been defined through several priority tasks. Although over 95% of instruction was provided in classrooms and training grounds, with strict implementation of preventive COVID-19 measures, all the steps taken towards intensive digitization proved to be extremely important for the continuity of the teaching process - General Radovanović pointed out.

He noted that military education in Serbia is one of the oldest in the world, and the Defence University has achieved outstanding results in its work, despite the challenges.

- Over 500 people from Serbia and abroad received education and advanced training at the Defence University last year. The cumulative GPA in undergraduate and integrated studies was 8.39, and about 8.50 on professional development courses. At the moment, we have over 2,000 students - the rector of the Defence University said.

Addressing the audience on behalf of all cadets of the Defence University, Cadet Anja Stojanović, assistant rector, invited young men and women to apply for admission into military schools.

- Over its years of existence, military education has proven its worth, and we strive every day to be worthy representatives of all the great people in our rich history who paved the paths we walk today. The path we have chosen has many obstacles and is full of challenges, but they teach us perseverance and prove that we have chosen well. The Defence University and all the people who make it up are there to help us on that path and provide the knowledge we are looking for - cadet assistant rector pointed out.

At today's ceremony, certificates were presented to those who were awarded a Doctor of Science degree at the Defence University, and special Defence University plaques were awarded to Academician Bela Balint, PhD, President of the National Council for Higher Education, and Vladimir Mikić, PhD, Secretary General of the Conference of Serbian Universities.
