Lecture by the Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija at the School of National Defence



The Director of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija of the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Marko Đurić, gave a lecture on “Challenges and Perspectives on Kosovo and Metohija” to the participants in the General Staff and Command and Staff Courses in the amphitheatre of the Military Academy Simulation and Distance Learning Section.
 
The main topics of the lecture were the current political and security situation in Kosovo and Metohija, the demographic structure, the work of the Office for Kosovo and Metohija and the negotiations with Pristina.
 
Đurić emphasized that it is in Serbia’s best interest to solve all problems peacefully and through discussions on the most difficult issues, while preserving the needs and interests of the Serbian people.
 
In the final part of the lecture, Đurić emphasized that Serbia has five significant political priorities – preserving stability and peace with a focus on strengthening defence capabilities and a policy of military neutrality, maintaining the country’s sovereignty and independence, economic growth, the demographic survival of the Serbian people and preventing young people from leaving.
 
The lecture was attended by rector of the University of Defence Lieutenant General Goran Radovanović, head of the School of National Defence Colonel Mićo Suvajac, chief of the Secretariat of the University of Defence Colonel Marko Zelenović, students of the School of National Defence, commanding officers and teachers.
