Biography of the Chief of the Military Academy

Major General Bojan Zrnić

Major General Dr. Bojan Zrnić was born on October 18, 1969. in Banja Luka. He finished the military high school in Belgrade in 1987 as the best in his class.
He graduated in 1992 from the Military Technical Academy in Belgrade, majoring in Electronics, majoring in Missile Systems, as the best in class. At the Faculty of Electrical Engineering in Belgrade, he defended his master's thesis in the field of radar technology in 1998. He defended his doctoral dissertation in the field of radar technology in 2001 at the Military Technical Academy in Belgrade. He graduated from the Royal College of Defense Studies in London in 2007. He completed his professional training in the field of weapons development project management in 2012 at the Institute for Advanced Defense Studies in Paris. He completed the course "Leaders for the 21st Century" at the European College of Security Studies in FR Germany in 2003. In the period from 1992 to 1995, he performed the duty of commander in the units for maintenance of electronic means. From 1995 to 2005, he held various positions at the Military Technical Academy, from commander in the student class to head of the department for radar systems. From 2005 to 2006, he held the position of Head of the Development Department in the Strategic Planning Directorate of the RS Ministry of Defense. From 2008 to 2010, he was the Deputy Chief of the Directorate for Planning and Development (J-5) of the General Staff of the Armed Forces. Since 2010, he has been the head of the Directorate for Defense Technologies of the Ministry of Defense of the RS, from where he managed the process of equipping the Armed Forces with weapons and military equipment and coordinated the work of the Defense Industry of Serbia. He was promoted to the rank of brigadier general in February 2011, and to the rank of major general in 2014. He has the teaching title of associate professor in the field of Radar Systems at the Military Academy. He has published over 70 scientific and professional papers in the field of military electronic systems and strategic planning. He was the president of the Council of the University of Defense in the period from 2012 to 2015, and he is a member of the Council for Scientific Activities of the RS Ministry of Defense. He has been the reviewer and the president of the editorial board of the magazine of national importance, Vojnotehnički glasnik, since 2010. He is one of the initiators for the establishment and a regular member of the organizing committees of the scientific-professional gathering in the field of defense technologies OTEH.
He speaks English actively.
He is married and has two sons.
