Operationalization of the Statute of the University of Defence II
25. 11. 2011
As part of regular activities of the Rector’s Collegium of the University of Defence, as defined in previously adopted dynamic plan, the Rector of the University of Defence Major General Prof. Dr Miodrag Jevtić with all Vice-Rectors, by invitation, actively participated in the 536th Session of the MMA Teaching and Research Council, on November 30, 2011.
After the protocol familiarization with the aim of attending the session, the Rector of the University of Defence in his speech explicitly informed all present members of the MMA Teaching and Research Council on the past activities relating to the constitution of the University of Defence, the enactment of the Statute and its adoption by the Serbian Government and the obligations of the MMA Faculty of Medicine in the future. “On my own and on behalf of my associates, I express great satisfaction with the presence and opportunity to present the most responsible MMA senior officers and academic representatives with all activities implemented in the previous period, which resulted in the establishment of the eighth state universities in the country, thus the transformation of the Higher School to the MMA Faculty of Medicine. The fact that the teachers of this faculty, with the adoption of the Statute became university teachers means enough in itself, taking into account the times behind us. The most responsible MMA representatives directly participated in the implementation of this activity, which included the adoption of dynamic plan of future activities, which include harmonization of the most important normative acts of the MMA Faculty of Medicine with the Statute of the University of Defence. It is important to accept the fact that the University of Defence and Rector's Office are reality and not virtual categories, and that the University of Defence is not a separate higher education institution. This newly formed institution of the defence system has a responsible task to integrate all higher education and research resources in the defence system and at the same time carry out harmonization with the academic community of the Republic of Serbia. The Rector’s Office of the University of Defence is the place of university professors and cadets-students, where the initiative, mobility and ideas are expected, but also support is provided to everybody in the defence system that recognize in themselves the affinity and capacity for improvement of education and scientific research in the defence system. Our commitment is to be a reliable backbone and support in all these situations”, said in his discussion a full-time professor of the MMA University of Medicine Major General Miodrag Jevtić.
A responsible approach of the MMA Administration and Scientific and Academic Council in the present composition is a guarantee for the implementation of these activities, as agreed after the adoption of the Statute.
A specific activity is expected in terms of constitution of the Teaching and Scientific Council of the MMA Faculty of Medicine, formation of the Council of the MMA Faculty of Medicine and harmonization of the Statute of this higher education institution with the Statute of the University of Defence.
During the Session, all proposed representatives of the Military Medical Academy and MMA Faculty of Medicine were unanimously elected in the University management and executive bodies, as well as professional councils.
As these tasks are getting closer to the final activity, we are about to establish the University Council, University Senate, University Councils of Experts, the Commission for ensuring the quality of the University, as well as the University Working Group for drafting the regulations defined in our Statute.
