A delegation of the Republic of Sudan composed of Dean of the Faculty of Medicine of the Kharari University with the Sudanese Ministry of Defence, Prof Dr Hasab Elrasoul Mohamed, and the honorary consul of the republic of Serbia to Khartoum, Mr Ahmed Moneim Abdel Mouti, visited the University of Defence on 21st March 2012 to hold bilateral talks and get to know possibilities of establishing cooperation in the field of military education between the two ministries of defence.
The delegation of the Republic of Sudan was received by Vice Rector for Interuniversity and International Cooperation Colonel Prof Dr Goran Dikić and Vice Rector for Research and Scientific Work Prof Dr Mirjana Životić Vanović, with their closest associates. After informing the guests about the history and tradition of the military education in the Republic of Serbia and the process resulting in the accreditation of the study programmes, formation of the University of Defence and adoption of its Statute by the Government of the Republic of Serbia, Colonel Dikić pointed to the traditionally friendly relations between our two countries as the basis for establishing cooperation, especially in the field of education and defence.
Dean Prof Babiker Mohamed thanked for the reception and detailed presentation of the University of Defence. He pointed out the considerable similarity between the Faculty of Medicine in Sudan and the Medical Faculty of the Military Medical Academy, since both of them are part of the Universities integrated in the ministries of defence. He stressed that our experience in the field of education of military doctors were very important and relevant to them, and that he had a number of question concerning the duration and ways of studies, number and composition of the cadets, the ratio between the military and civilian module in the study programme, commitments to service after graduation, etc. Prof Babakier Mohamed added that he had already studied the experiences of the medical faculties and universities in Pakistan, India, Malaysia and South Africa, but, given the traditionally friendly relationship and similarities, he especially wanted to get familiar with our practice and experience. Colonel Dikić and Prof Životić Vanović gave detailed answers to the questions. After photographing and exchange of presents, the delegation of the Republic of Sudan continued their visit to the University of Defence by visiting the Faculty of Medicine of the Military Medical Academy.
