University of Defence promotes new PhDs

The ceremonial promotion of thirteen PhDs of the University of Defence was held today at the Centre for Simulations and Distance Learning of the Military Academy. The diplomas were awarded to PhDs by the Rector of the University, Major-General Prof. Mladen Vuruna, PhD.

The ceremony to mark the Day of the University of Defence – on 24 February and four years of its formation was attended by the representatives of this higher education institution, both the commandant of the Military Academy and the head of the MMA Military Medical Faculty, the members of the committee for evaluation and defence of the doctoral dissertation and family members of new PhDs.

General Vuruna said that the University of Defence is "young and not too big", but that it includes two significant higher education institutions of the Ministry of Defence and the Armed Forces of Serbia.

A number of thirteen new PhDs confirms the continuity of the many decades long education. It also confirms that we will continue to have cadre that will be able to deal with all the challenges and problems that arise in the defence system and to solve them using scientific methods, the Rector of the University of Defence said.

The vice-rector for scientific research activity of the University of Defense, Prof. Mirjana Životić-Vanović, PhD inroduced new PhDs – Lieutenant Colonels Aleksandar Cakić, Dejan Ivković, Dragan Petković, Zoran Trifunović, Zoran Kostic, Milomir Gačević, Daneta Nenadić, then Majors Dalibor Jovanović, Nenad Dimitrijević and Damir Jerković, civil servants Dušan Ćurčić and Aneta Peric, as well as retired Colonel Pavle Pavkovic.
