25. 02. 2015

Rector of the University of Defence, Major-General Prof. Mladen Vuruna, PhD and the head of the National Defence Academy of Austria, Lieutenant General Erich Cvitkovic, signed a Letter of intent between these higher educational institutions today.

It is a document referring to the continuation of bilateral military cooperation, as well as cooperation in the field of research and education.

According to General Vuruna, the said agreement provides new opportunities in terms of expanding co-operation, in particular in the education of officers for various duties and second and third levels of studies. He also pointed out that the officers of our Armed Forces were educated in Austria, just as their counterparts from Austria were educated in our country, and that cadets of the Military Academy have already traditional meetings with students of the National Academy of Defence of Austria.

General Cvitkovic also highlighted the importance of this cooperation taking into account the security challenges of the modern world that are becoming increasingly concrete, relevant and difficult to confront individually. Therefore, as he concluded and highlighted, the co-operation in the field of education and training is gaining significance.
